Parents deserve bedding - Madigele
11 Mar 2015
The Assistant Minister of Health, Dr Alfred Madigele, says he is not aware that parents and guardians of children admitted to government medical facilities are not provided with bedding.
He said he was unaware that they were required to do cleaning without protective clothing. Responding to a question in Parliament on March 10, Dr Madigele explained that the parents should be given mattresses and bedding.
“Parents and guardians of hospitalised children are given mattresses and bedding. Occasionally there might be shortage of bedding but this usually cuts across the whole hospital of Princess Marina Hospital, and is usually temporary,” the assistant minister said. He also explained that cleaning should be done by either private companies or government employed cleaners.
Takatokwane MP, Mr Ngaka Ngaka had asked if the assistant minister was aware that parents and guardians of children admitted at government hospitals, such as Princess Marina, were not provided with bedding. The MP wanted to know what the ministry was doing to address this anomaly. ENDS
