Education system three faceted
09 Mar 2015
The success of any education system lies on the three layers of people, teachers, parents and the students, the head of department of pastoral care at Shakwe Junior Secondary School has said.
Mr Carter Hikuama said it was important for each layer to play its role and bring positive results. He was speaking at a victory celebration of best Primary Leaving School Exanimation (PLSE) results at Bodibeng Primary School. The school attained 86 per cent pass rate from 60 per cent attained the previous year.
He said if there was no respect and cooperation between the school and the Parents and Teachers Association (PTA), these results could not have been achieved. Mr Hikuama revealed that the school’s 2014 PLSE results had demonstrated beyond doubt that even schools in the rural areas are can achieve good results.
“You indicated that with extra effort and determination you can still perform much better than what we have achieved so far. You have demonstrated that good performance is not a preserve for those in cities and big towns. What we need to know and believe in is that, there is nothing that comes easy, and behind every success are hours of plain hard work,” he added.
He observed that equally important to the success of a group is good relationship between stakeholders, as effective relationships ensure respect and cooperation. He noted that since relationships and cooperation are operating systems of human beings, they are the key foundations for a successful system.
Mr Hikuama encouraged the school management and parents to continue with the good work adding that they are a perfect team in which every member actively played his/her roles well.
He said they had demonstrated that they are a team that does not need to be changed for a while until they attain a culture of excellence in Bodibeng. To students, he encouraged them to keep up the standard and continue to make the school and parents proud. Mr Hikuama said their school has not been known for good performance for quite some time and their performance had put the village on the map.
He urged them to Keep the same pace and maintain discipline up to their final examinations noting that they would be assured of good things in their lives. “You have begun a journey to a quality life, so don’t miss a step, and get focused until you achieve your goals. Amongst you, I see future teachers, engineers, doctors, accountants, electricians, technicians, scientists and even good politicians to lead this country,” he added. ENDS
