Satmos succumb to Orapa United

08 Mar 2015

Orapa United walloped Satmos FC 2-0 in Selebi Phikwe thus disappointing the hosting team fans during a be Mobile Premier League encounter on March 7.

Satmos, who currently have their fingers crossed that their team which is on the 12th spot on the league log with 21 points, does not move further down into the dreaded relegation zone.

On the other hand, Orapa United, who are comfortably within the top four bracket of the league , are at ease with one intension, to maintain their stay among the top eight.

Both goals were scored in the first half; the first goal through Patrick Lenyeletse just four minutes after the whistle . About 22 minutes later, Hendrick Moyo scored again for his side to make it 2-0 before the teams went for break with the score line still the same.

In the second half, Satmos coach Kenneth Mogae seemed to have changed his game plan considering how the boys closed up the gaps and put more pressure on the visiting side with the hope to score at least a goal.

The copper/nickel mining town side made a few attempts at Ostriches’ Mosimanegape Robert’s goal posts but to no avail because the shots either went wide or above the cross bar.

However, Satmos managed to prevent Orapa United from making more damage than they had done already in the second half.  Their defence was tightened up leaving the boys from the diamond mining town, who were pushing for more goals to finally settle for their 2-0 lead.

In an interview after the game, Orapa United assistant coach Chippa Koolese said that they were happy that they collected three points from Satmos, adding that their intension was to take games as they came. He explained that their main aim was to maintain their stay among the top eight and that they were not under any pressure to take the be Mobile trophy but if they could it would be a bonus for them.

“The head coach Maxwell Moyo and I arrived at the Orapa United base last year with an assignment to assemble a atrong team  and develop the players to another level. Precisely it seems our objective is being realised as so far we are doing well in the league,” he said.

On the other hand, Coach Mogae expressed disappointment at his loss but maintained that he intended to keep his team in the top flight league.

He said that recently he had been using youngsters in the team and few senior and experienced players, adding that his young boys also lacked a bit of physique and that they will have to up their strength.

He noted that they would be going back to the drawing board to rectify things and that their intension was to win the coming games.

Meanwhile, in another beMOBILE Premier League encounter that took place at the Selebi Phikwe Stadium on Friday night, Extension Gunners from Lobatse walloped Nico United from Selebi Phikwe 2-1.

The Selebi Phikwe side was the first to score a goal in the first half through Christopher Musonda who received a ball from Onkabetse Mankgantai in the right flank and drove the ball for a few metres before taking a straight shot at Gunners’ goal keeper Lame Tladinyane to find the net.

However, in the 40th minute Jomo Moatlhaping scored through a header from a corner kick by Monageng Thaele.

The teams went for break with one goal each, and, in the second half and after a long struggle for ‘Majombolo’ to try and score and a tight defence to prevent ‘Guna Guna’ from scoring, former Nico’s player Topo Piet closed the curtains on the Selebi Phikwe side by scoring the second goal in the 93rd minute just before the final whistle.

The goal seemed to have dashed Nico’s hopes of gaining at least a point to move away from the danger zone.

Currently Nico are on the 13th spot with 20 points and if things go wrong and they do not collect points, they are bound to fall into the dark pit of relegation, while Extension Gunners on position nine with 29 points on the other hand are desperately pushing and fighting to be in the top eight.
