Female Zebras lie in wait for Madagascar

The senior national women’s football team is expected to finish what they started three weeks ago when they meet Madagascar in the second leg of the All Africa qualifiers at the National Stadium on Friday evening (March 6).
The Zebras forced a 3-1 victory against the hosts despite harsh weather conditions and playing on a waterlogged pitch at Mahamasina Municipal Stadium. The girls; Thuso Ramififi, Amogelang Moagi and Phatshimo Bosa ensured that the Zebras scored three goals away.
Unfortunately, the Zebras will be without their right back, Tlamelo Motlhale, who is still on suspension for a second bookable offence.
However, coach Gaolethoo ‘Ronaldoh’ Nkutwisang told members of the media that although they had wanted Tlamelo’s input, they had since roped in Golebaone Selebatso to play in her position.
“Ronaldoh” further said her team was ready to play Madagascar, adding that they were injury free and that every player was looking forward to the game. “Morale is high in the camp, the girls are ready and we are just waiting for Madagascar to arrive. They put up a brave fight but they should expect stiff competition from us,” she warned.
She said she was happy that her side managed to win in Madagascar and that they had managed to rectify all the errors they picked from their first encounter.
“We created a lot of scoring opportunities but failed to convert, and again there was no good communication in our midfield. What we have actually learnt from that game is that they were clever at offside traps, but we will be alert to their tactics this time,” she said
The team’s captain, Bonang ‘Bebeto’ Otlhagile said they were aware that their opponents had prepared well so as to reverse the deficit, adding that they were equally prepared because their aim is to proceed to the next round.
She said they had forgotten about their victory and were now focusing on this evening’s game. Botswana Football Association’s acting vice president, Suzie Montsho said the players were happy and that all was in order.
On players’ allowances, she said they had been paid well in time. “Late payment is a thing of the past, and as the BFA we have long taken a stand to pay the players both ladies and men’s team in time,” she said. The game starts at 6pm and is free to watch. ENDS
