Lempu secondary not overcrowed
19 Feb 2015
The Assistant Minister of Education and Skills Development Mr Moiseraela Goya denied that Lempu Junior Secondary School is overcrowded with a teacher/student ratio of about 1:60.
The Assistant Minister was answering a question in parliament on February 18 from the Member of Parliament for Letlhakeng West Mr Ngaka Ngaka who asked him if he was aware that students at Lempu Junior Secondary School in Letlhakeng West constituency were overcrowded with a teacher/student ratio of about 1:60, if so what would he do to remedy the situation given that the proposed Ngware Junior Secondary School had been deferred.
Mr Goya said the total enrolment of the school was 730 students in the 18 stream school giving an average teacher student ratio of 1:41. He said currently in Form One, they were 283 students and a teacher/student ratio of 1:47. In Form Two he said they were 217 students and teacher/student ratio of 1:36 while in Form three they were 230 students and teacher/student ratio of 1:38.
Mr Goya said from the scenario the teacher/student ratio was slightly high in Form Ones and quite reasonable in Form Twos and Form Threes. He said in the absence of Ngware Junior Secondary School, enrolment was being balanced across the regions schools. ENDS
