Tshireletso increases tally

15 Feb 2015

Mochudi Centre Chiefs winger, Lemponye Tshireletso, netted a brace in the first half against BR Highlanders to take his goal tally to 13 in a game they won 2-1 in Serowe on February 13.

Tshireletso’s goals also ensured that Magosi remained at the top of Botswana Premier League table while rivals, Township Rollers, were away on a CAF mission in Johannesburg, South Africa.

he former BDF XI attacker, Tshireletso benefited from Agisanyang ‘Starring’ Ramabya’s miscalculated pass to goalkeeper Kabo Ntswaneng and slotted home an arguably one of his easiest goals in the league.

Former Township Rollers, Notwane and Police XI gaffer Ramabya played a backpass to his goalkeeper but was not weighted enough to reach the shot-stopper before the opportunist Tshireletso pounced on it and raised his hands up, presumably thanking Almighty God for an easy goal.

However, Highlanders looked like a side ready to fight until the last whistle when former Chiefs and Ramokgonami born midfielder Kebatlogetse ‘Go-Man’ Batsweletse received his marching orders for what was adjudged dangerous play on the ever shining Lesego Galenamotlhale.

Galenamotlhale together with Ocean Mpofu enjoyed knocking the ball around with the former showing off some silky footwork best identified with his captain Pontsho Moloi.

Thereafter, former Polokwane City striker Kekaetswe ‘Mara’ Moloi failed to put his team two up after controlling superbly in the box but fired on the legs of oncoming Highlanders defender. Though one would have expected Magosi to overpower the ten men Highlanders, the visiting team failed to take advantage of their numerical advantage until Tshireletso again received a defence-splitting pass to further put more weight on top of the sinking Highlanders’ ship.

Chiefs went to recess leading 2-0 but, Batisang Josiah headed home a beauty immediately after half time to keep Highlanders dreams alive. However, the ten men Highlanders seemed to have run out of steam and let Pontsho Moloi led Chiefs mount an offensive though the latter failed to increase the goal tally.

After half time hosts Highlanders looked like they had replenished their energies and were rejuvenated to contain the free-flowing Magosi. A few minutes after recess, Magosi gaffer Michael Sithole brought in Galabgwe Moyana for Zimbabwean international Tendai Nyumasi whose expression looked out of sorts.

Thereafter, Zambian tactician Sithole brought in Phenyo ‘Mzambiya’ Mongala to increase his firepower but the ten men Highlanders looked set to contain the marauding Chiefs’ forwards. Even the introduction of hard-shooting Bonolo Fraiser did not threaten the blue and white Mahalapye lads who kept on going despite their numerical inferiority.

Meanwhile, on Saturday hosts Motlakase Power Dynamos shocked BMC FC by a 2-1 at the same venue to condemn the Lobatse outfit to a continuous streak of loses. All the three goals were scored in the first of half of the game. ENDS
