Landboard suspends allocation to prepare layout
12 Feb 2015
Kweneng Land Board suspended the allocation of residential plots in Salajwe village from 2008 to 2010.
Minister of Lands and Housing, Mr Prince Maele said in Parliament that the decision to suspend allocation of these plots was to allow for the preparation of the layout for the village which had taken longer than expected due to shortage of manpower.
He acknowledged that the Letlhakeng Sub Land Board allocated residential plots in 2011 to applicants who had applied during the same year, thus skipping some of those who applied in the previous years.
He said the 2011 allocations were done during a Road Show whose purpose was to bring services closer to the people, while a few applications received between 2008 and 2010 were also attended to during the Road Show.
“The Land Board has resolved to prepare mini layouts within Salajwe village to amongst others make provision for applications received between 2008 and 2010 and it is expected that allocations will start in the first quarter of 2015/16 financial year,” the minister said.
Takatokwane MP, Mr Ngaka Ngaka had wanted to know if the minister was aware that Kweneng Land Board stopped allocating residential plots at Salajwe village since 2008 to 2010 and that in 2011, residential plots were only allocated to those who applied that same year disregarding those who had applied in previous years.
He had also asked why the allocation stopped and when would the applicants of 2008 to 2010 be allocated residential plots. ENDS
