Human trafficking part of JPC agenda
19 Mar 2013
Human trafficking as a serious trans-border crime has been part of the agenda for Joint Permanent Commission on Defence and Security (JPC) meetings with Namibia, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe since 2008 when it was noted as a global problem.
The Minister of Defence, Justice and Security, Mr Dikgakgamatso Seretse has told Parliament that at the JPC meetings, the intelligence and security agencies exchange relevant information on detection, prevention, intelligence and training on the control of cross-border crime including human trafficking.
Mr Seretse was responding to a question asked by Gaborone West North MP, Mr Robert Masitara who had asked the minister to state the discussions he has had with his counterparts in neighbouring countries on the effectiveness of measures to control cross-border human trafficking. ENDS
