02 Dec 2014
Sankoyo Bush Bucks public relations officer, Thato Molosi has dismissed allegations of tribalism within the club.
Addressing a press conference recently, he said the executive committee was surprised to learn about allegations of tribalism from the media. The allegations came after the resignation of the club’s chairman, Mokolobedi Pelekekae recently.
There were reports that since the team gained promotion to the premier league, Pelekekae had been at loggerheads with some members of the team both in the management and players.
Molosi explained that the chairman parted ways with team on a positive note adding that “he resigned due to his personal reasons and there was no difference between him and the other members of the executive and technical committee.
He said the team belonged to the Ngamiland community. Kgosi Gokgathang Moalosi of Sankoyo also dismissed the allegations as unfounded noting that they were aimed to tarnish the good name of the team.
He said there could never be tribalism in the club as residents of Sankoyo were the ones who elected the executive committee which comprised of five non-Sankoyo residents and three from Sankoyo village.
He said when the team was promoted to the premier league he informed residents of Sankoyo that now the team belonged to the Ngamiland community and the team at large.
Kgosi revealed that it was unfair for someone to claim that those from Sankoyo did not want outsiders while the executive committee comprise of three people from the village while the rest are outsiders. It was also reported that the team comprises of 26 players of which only one comes from Sankoyo. ENDS
