Govt implements most recommendations
26 Nov 2014
It is not true that government has not implemented the recommendations of the 2007 Bertrand De Speville Consultancy Report on the review of Botswana National Anti-Corruption Strategy, Parliament has been told.
Responding to a Parliamentary question on November 25, Assistant Minister for Presidential Affairs and Public Administration, Mr Phillip Makgalemele said, of the 45 recommendations, only eleven had not been implemented.
He however, noted that government was willing to implement all the recommendations but because of a number of reasons including capacity constraints and legal implications, it was not possible to implement all of them at once. Mr Makgalemele said, out of the eleven that had not been implemented, four were due to capacity constraints, six had legal implications, while one had budgetary constraints.
Selebi Phikwe West MP, Mr Dithapelo Keorapetse had asked why government had not implemented the recommendations of the 2007 Bertrand Despeville Consultancy Report on the review of Botswana National Anti-corruption Strategy and its implementation. He had also wanted to know whether the Minister had any intentions of implementing some of the recommendations, if so, which recommendations and when. ENDS
