Young people in Southern District have been called to join and render service to different community-based organisations in the district and be more visible.

Southern District deputy district commissioner, Ms Segomotso Nkwane said this in Kanye recently during the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Bathoen II Trust and Botswana Society.

The commissioner voiced a concern that, although the youth constituted a large number of the district population, only elderly members of the community always came forward to be engaged on community related service when the need arose.

Ms Nkwane noted that there was no better way for a young people to show appreciation for the community that had raised them to become the best they could be in life, than to do voluntary work for it, especially along their different areas of specialty.

Bathoen Tust chairperson, Mr Pontius Mokgosana also raised a concern that the youth of Ga-Ngwaketse were lagging behind with regards to community service.

He urged them to avail themselves to be elected into the board. Ends
