Society donates to Bothakga pupils

Lobatse deputy district commissioner, Mr Ernest Phiri, has praised Society Against HIV/AIDS (SAHA) from the University of Botswana for their heartfelt donations to pupils with special needs at Bothakga Primary School in Lobatse.

Speaking during the donation on October 3, Mr Phiri said other sectors should join hands together with government to uplift and assist those in need.

Furthermore, he pointed out that because teachers spent more time with students, they became attached and easily understood the background of their students.

He said the donations would motivate others to assist the needy to donate bigger things. In addition he stated that parents should play a role in children´s education in collaboration with teachers

The SAHA chairperson, Ms Anastacia Dumulo said government could not afford to care for each and every one in need by satisfying all their needs and demand that was why they decided to bring something to the needy. She said she would like to thank SAHA members of SAHA.

Furthermore, she pointed out that their mandate was to improve the livelihoods of the disadvantaged or less privileged members of society and change the lives of people living with HIV/AIDS.

School head, Mrs Boraro Jone was thankful to have received the donations and those were blessings. She said their gesture was in line with one of President Lt. Gen Seretse Khama Ian Khama´s 5Ds.

The president of SAHA, Mrs Sally Tjiuasera was happy with what their society did to the special needs and thy have been partnering with other societies to share ideas and view advice on issues related to the needy and HIV/AIDS issues.

She said their society addresses issues of poverty and are looking forward to be leading contributors to HIV/AIDS among youth. Ends
