Sankoyo disappoint supporters

05 Oct 2014

Sankoyo Bush Bucks supporters left Maun Sports Complex disappointed after the Ngurungu Boys failed to register three points against Notwane on October 4.

Sankoyo shared the spoils with Notwane despite the former's dominance during the entire game. Sankoyo failed to convert many chances they created salvaging a single goal in the 19th minute, only to concede on the 90th minute.

The supporters came in large numbers with expectations that the team will make a turn around after a streak of loses and a draw in recent encounters.  They believed that Ngurungu will use the home-ground advantage to increase its chances of staying afloat in Premier League.

Ngurungu started the game on a high pace showing their intentions to shower Notwane with an avalanche of attacks. They were rewarded in the 19th minute when Kealeboga Molebatsi found the back of the net through a header.

Sankoyo sustained its lead blocking Notwane attempts to equalise until the half time. The game was characterised by rough tackles which resulted in Sankoyo losing one of its players, Refilwe Senyane due to an injury.

In the second half, Toronto Boys came back with a renewed zeal to take its play to another level. They made frequent attacks but failed to convert the opportunities into goals.

As the game heated up, Sankoyo lost one of its key players, Frederick Motukwa due to injury. That appeared to have created a huge gap on the Sankoyo side and Notwane took the advantage and piled pressure and scored an equaliser through Lemogang Maswena in the 90th minute.

In interview, both coaches were happy regarding their boys’ performance and the result. Sankoyo coach, Philani Mabhena said his boys controlled the game better and had more realistic chances but failed to score.

He said they could have scored three goals but Notwane strategy seemed to be very aggressive.  Mabhena noted that the injuries also destabilized his boys.

Notwane coach, Christopher Rabalago said they undermined Sankoyo but they gave the hard time in the first half. He said his team got easily frustrated after Sankoyo scored but they came back in the second half as they managed to equalize.

Rabalago said he brought fresh energy in the second half. “I am happy that worked for my team,” he said. Ends
