Remmogo empowers Kgale Hill JSS boys

Remmogo Youth Organisation (RYO) in partnership with Kgale Hill Junior Secondary School on Monday, September 22 hosted ‘Boy child empowerment talk themed ‘the art of being a gentleman’ at Kgale Hill CJSS.
Boys were equipped with life skills necessary for them to become well rounded gentlemen by the likes of Mr Kagiso Morebodi of Remmogo, Mr Karabo Seelo aka Lehenza - the presenter of the local talent show Mokaragana - and local artist Mosako.
The objective of the talk was to cultivate young people’s desire to excel academically, socially and emotionally.
Mr Seelo, as a business man, shared his journey of success with the boys saying life for him has not been smooth but he did not give up.
He said he was sharing his journey of success not to seek attention or pride but to make the boys change and think of going beyond him.
“I want you to get inspired and you need to believe in yourself,” he said.
As young as 22, Mr Seelo has a degree in Business Entrepreneurship and Advertising, and now he is doing his masters in International Business and has a company.
He said the very important thing is to know what you want in life and that there is nothing easy in life.
He urged them to work hard and take education serious and promised them to help those who are willing to venture into business.
He stated that the best lesson that life has taught him has been to always chase his dreams and to do things for himself because one can only get what they want if they stand up for themselves because other people can easily let you down.
He advised them that everything is possible as long as one sets his/her mind on something and works on it tirelessly without ceasing.
For his advice, Mosako said they (boys) should prepare for their future while still young, urging them to refrain from alcohol and drug abuse as they affect their minds and hinder them from concentrating on their school works.
He said one mistake that those who want to venture in creative arts as musicians commit it to tend to think that they do not have to be educated, something that is not true.
“Most of your percentage commitment should be your school work and 10 percent should be spent in your talent,” he said.
He further urged them to always listen to their parents because their parents want to see their future being bright.
Meanwhile, Kgale Hill CJSS school head Mr Solomon Setswe lamented that boys are not doing well as compared to girls; they are always behind in many things such as doing presentation at assembly.
“It is rare to see boys presenting at the assembly and this worries me a lot,” he said.
He gave an example that for the Form Three midterm results, the top 10 were made of only two boys and eight girls, while in Form Two, 20 percent were boys and 80 percent were girls.
He urged them to develop their self-esteem and strive for excellence. ENDS
