DPSM's HIV/AIDS coordinator, Ms Olebogeng Kgabo says the promotion of wellness towards better and improved service delivery is a success in the workplace.
Ms Kgabo was a guest speaker at wellness day in Moshupa on September 12 where government departments in Moshupa jointly worked together towards the success of wellness programmes.
The event marked the increasing level of stakeholder’s collaboration on issues related to health and service delivery. She said the intentions of DPSM were to recognize the importance of the workplace wellness programmes which are, occupational health and safety management, HIV/AIDS management and employee assistance programmes.
‘’You have decided to work collectively towards all the deficits that you have encountered in your respective departments,’’ she said. She commented the departments in Moshupa for working together harmoniously and professionally towards bridging the existing gaps in their planning and the implementation of all of the activities, adding that DPSM put in place the guidelines for mainstreaming employee wellness in the public service.
She stated that the guidelines were operational tools towards improving and maintaining the safety and health of all employees. She said public service officers contribute to the achievement of the country’s national development goals and most importantly maximizes the wellbeing of every Motswana through the workplace wellness programmes.
Public officers, she said should be dedicated and competent towards customer satisfaction as customers were the most treasured product.
‘
’We cannot do this if we are not physically, psychologically sound, thus a greater call for an active highly operational wellness programmes in their workplaces, every officer shall be effective and efficient,’’ she said.
However, Moshupa sub-district HIV/AIDS coordinator Ms Khumo Baakile indicated that the objectives of the event were to encourage all government departments to work together to promote team spirit.
Ms Baakile said officers should engage in sports activities to be healthy so that they are productive. She encouraged all stakeholders to assist each other in workplaces. Bishop Douglas Matshediso of Word Divine Ministries appealed to public servants to change their attitude towards work where they are undermining themselves, saying most of them were depressed, demoralized and frustrated because the employer was unable to promote them and increasing their salaries.
Bishop encouraged them to appreciate what they get at the end of the month, encouraging them to praise the lord all the time. Ends
