BotswanaPost, through its foundation has donated books, toys and educational materials to Ghanzi Day Care Centre and sponsored a prize giving ceremony for Kacgae Primary School.
According to a press release from the organisation, the gesture by BotswanaPost Foundation was geared towards the realisation of one of the pillars of Vision 2016 which is an educated and informed nation.
The donation aimed to aid students to develop a sense of self; become responsible, augment their observation and problem solving skills, logical thinking, reading and writing.
In her welcome remarks, the regional organiser of the Botswana Council of Women (BCW), Ms Rose Mosaise informed the public that their school, which was founded in 1973, is owned by Botswana Council of Women (BCW).
Ms Mosaise thanked the Gantsi District Council for their continued support through grants and further applauded BotswanaPost for their commitment to improving the lives of the very communities they serve, states the release.
The Foundation, states the release also joined Kacgae Primary School in celebrating the high achievers at the school’s prize giving ceremony on September 5.
The BotswanaPost Foundation adopted the school in 2012 in response to its request of addressing the school’s under-performance through the government’s adopt a school initiative.
The Foundation then deployed a strategy to improve performance through the use of Information Communication Technology as a learning tool and various initiatives such as prize giving sponsorship for three years since the adoption date.
The Foundation has since delivered a fully functional computer lab with solar powered laptops, internet connectivity, a refurbished library and a fully irrigated garden.
In her remarks at the prize giving ceremony, BotswanaPost Foundation chairperson, Mrs Tshisimogo Lekaukau implored the school management for their dedication to improving the school academic performance.
Giving a keynote address, Mr Isaac Saul, who is a native of the Gantsi region and a scholar at the University of Botswana told the pupils that they must never believe anyone who tells them that they are different from others or that they cannot achieve great things in life.
