BALA Delta Manufacturer donate to school

North West District Council chairperson, Mr Lathang Molonda says government is committed to the provision of adequate developments to all villages including those far from the resources.
He said the main objective was to make these settlements attractive to investors and make them alternative centres for commercial and industrial location.
Giving a word of appreciation after receiving a donation of two street lights that were installed at a primary school in Mababe, Mr Molonda said government had taken on board communities residing in remote area hence implementation of the affirmative action frame work in rural areas.
The donation was from Botswana Association of Local Authorities (BALA) in partnership with Delta Manufacturer. Mr Molonda said major milestones had been achieved in developing the livelihoods in rural areas through the affirmative action frame work.
He said, “It was pleasing to note that affirmative action remained viable to development for remote area communities since they still faced social-economic hindrances which largely emanated from their geographic location and proximity to social amenities.”
He said residents in settlements like Mababe are enjoying the benefits of the programme, adding that residents are also encouraged to harness their natural resources to generate income and put food on the table. Mr Molonda said his council is in the right direction towards promoting social inclusion and empowerment of people residing in remote areas.
He said the donation is an addition to the government’s endeavour to bring services closer to the people.
Botswana Association of Local Authorities (BALA) project coordinator, Mr Patrick Manthe said the government alone cannot afford to implement developments country wide. ENDS
