Golf charitable day successful

Organisers of the one-day golf tournament held over the weekend in Jwaneng has hailed it a success.
The tournament dubbed annual Pick and Pay and Cresta Jwaneng Community Charities Golf Day, was a vehicle through which funds for charitable activities in and around Jwaneng were raised.
The brainchild behind the event, Pick and Pay and Jwaneng Cresta said the event was to raise funds for an orphanage in Sese as well as help build a library, which was started by the United States of America peace corps in Sese.
They consented that if the turn out of their business partners who did not only grace the event but also availed four-ball teams to participate in the tournament was also used as a litmus test, the charitable event has given them a ray of hope in their endeavours to be partners in development.
Sethata Seremane, a franchisee of Jwaneng Pick and Pay said they chose golf as a sport primarily because it turned out to be a common thing among the organisers and the sponsors of the charitable event.
“We intend to use the funds accrued from the event to assist Lamodimo Orphanage Centre and also help complete the Creative Learning Centre all of which are community projects in Sese,” said Seremane.
Tebogo Seremane, who is also a franchisee at Jwaneng Pick and Pay, thanked corporate teams for their generous spirit of giving back to the community especially to the less privileged in the society.
Jwaneng Cresta general manager, Shane de Lange concurred with fellow event organisers saying proceeds will go to the two Sese projects.
“It is good that at the end of the day the money raised would be channeled towards a good course, and as a company it gives us pleasure to be involved in activities that bring hope to the poor,” he said adding that the fact that most of his employees stay in Sese village give credence to Cresta involvement in the event.
Giving, he said is at the heart of his company and the donation of a house that they build for the poor family in June this year clearly attests to that.
One of the participants at the event, Moses Goto all the way from Gaborone together with his team of three amateur players said his participation was over and above to support a charitable cause.
A total of twelve teams participated among them Majwe Mining, Cresta, Nashua slugged it out on the tuff in the name of charity. Ends
