Hogs beat Cheetahs

Gaborone Rugby Club alias the Hogs halted BDF Cheetahs’ hopes of conquering the rugby A Division log by beating them 26-10 in an exciting encounter at Wharic Grounds on August 17.
Playing against the military men was not going to be easy and as Gaborone Hogs coach, Andrew Paxinos said they had to be fit and were also lucky because BDF missed numerous players including Eddie Ernest whom he described as the best lockout in the country.
He nonetheless praised players such as Vuyosile Moyo who had a good game. At the other end, BDF Cheetahs coach Kabo Batsile was not a happy man especially with the decisions the referee made.
He said the referee made it easy for them to lose the game as he let Hogs play the games from offside positions.
Batsile said his team showed that there were areas that needed improvement such as set pieces. The coach described the Hogs as their toughest opponents in the division, saying although they wanted to maintain their position, it was going to be tough playing against the Hogs.
It was the Cheetahs who made the first try but the minute they took the 7-0 lead, the Hogs came charging and after Sean Bester failed to convert his first kick, he managed to make it on the second attempt thus reducing the lead to 7-3.
The Hogs continued piling pressure on their opponents and eventually they made a try and a conversion saw them taking a 10-7 lead.
Bester made another kick thus extending the lead by three points and by half time, they were leading 16-10 after Cheaters converted their own kick.
In the second half, the Hogs were on rampage, showing loopholes in Cheetahs defence.
Stefau Van Zyl scored a try and after Bester converted, the Hogs extended their lead to 23-10, and by then the writing was on the wall, the Cheetahs would not be able to win the game.
Hugo Botha made the last kick to make the final score 26-10 in favour of the Gaborone Hogs. ENDS
