Residents commend Siele

14 Aug 2014

Residents of Mmathethe and Magoriapitse in the Ngwaketse South constituency have commended their area MP Mr Peter Siele for having served them well for ten years.

Speaking during kgotla meetings at the two villages on Tuesday August 12, Village Extension Team (VET) deputy chairperson, Mr Mosimanegape Nnaasau said the constituency has witnessed notable developments during Mr Siele’s time in office.

He thanked Mr Siele who is also the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development for coming up with awards for outstanding learners and teachers in all the schools in his constituency, the self- sponsored initiative which has improved the results for the better.

Mr Nnaasau further stated that Mr Siele has re-energised and re-defined the purpose of VET, adding that members used to work in isolation before he assumed office.

He expressed delight that Mmathethe residents now enjoyed a 24 hour service at the local clinic with an IDCC unit, achieved through Mr Siele’s good representation.

“Patients no longer travel to Kanye or Good Hope for assistance,” he said.

Having built a house for a destitute person in Mmathethe, he said the feat has set Mr Siele as an exceptional, a man of integrity and principle.

Magoriapitse VDC chairperson, Mr Geoffrey Khoane also expressed gratitude that the village was now connected to the national power grid, which he described as an indelible mark of Mr Siele’s representation of the area.

Mr Mosimanegape Digwaamaje of Magoriapitse wished God could renew the ministers’ strength so he continued representing them even longer.

For his part, Mr Siele also thanked Ngwaketse South constituents for having afforded him the opportunity to serve them as their representative.

“I am so humbled to hear that you appreciate the contribution I have so far made to the development of this area. It is usually a very rare thing to hear when one is still alive. I carry with me 47 years of experience, 32 years in the public service and 15 years in politics and I am readily available to lend advice where possible,” he said.

Although he acknowledged that the constituency has not achieved all in terms of developments, he was thankful that Magoriapitse, Selokolela, Gasita and Mogojogojo villages had been electrified.

On other issues, Mr Siele urged constituents to vote in good numbers in the coming general elections. Mr Siele has served as a minister in the ministries of Agriculture, Education and Skills Development, Labour and Home Affairs as well as Local Government and Rural Development. Ends
