Sankoyo register first win

History was made on August 8 at the Maun Sports Complex with a spectacular clash between Sankoyo Bush Bucks and Motlakase Power Dynamos during the premier league season opener.
The downside of the game was that it was played on a partially lit field with only a few lights on. The match officials started the game well on time as scheduled despite poor lighting. Bush Bucks followers did not disappoint as they gave the stadium a carnival atmosphere.
The match also attracted a huge turnout from residents of the North West District, despite the fact that tickets arrived on the day of the match. From the onset, Sankoyo Bush Bucks started the game with a blistering pace, attacking and raiding their opponent’s goal area frequently.
In the fourth minute, Fred Motukwa opened the account for the hosts when he scored with an astonishing shot from about 40 metres giving the new premier league boys an early lead.
Sankoyo Bush Bucks continued to dominate the rest of the first half but their attempts to increase the score line were thwarted by Motlakase’s goalkeeper.
The game went to half time with Bush bucks leading the Palapye outfit by a solitary goal. In the second half, Motlakase Power Dynamos raised the bar and launched furious attacks on the hosts.
In the second minute of the second half, Basimanebotlhe Moilwa made a goal keeping error which allowed Pelaelo Hlabano of Motlakase to take advantage and level the score.
Motlakase continued to pile more pressure on the inexperienced Sankoyo Bush Bucks youngsters but their attempts were foiled by the acrobatic Moilwa.
In the last minute of additional time, Tlhagiso Matthews was awarded a penalty after being fouled by Jomo Bolofete. Phillip Afitile was given a red card for protesting.
Sankoyo Bush Bucks scored the winning goal from the spot kick to register their maiden win in the elite league. After the game, Bush Bucks assistant coach, Gadimang Tiiso expressed delight at the performance of his players noting that they put up a brave performance.
He told BOPA that his players panicked at the beginning of the second half as they were put under pressure by Motlakase.
Motlakase coach, Pule Mogotsi said they arrived late for the game which made his boys to tire easily in the first half. He also said his players wasted many chances in second half as they did not play as a unit. Ends
