Police volunteers house family

Batswana should always endeavour to assist fellow human beings and ensure that all lead a dignified life by putting a roof over the heads of the less fortunate members of the society, Minister of Health Dr John Seakgosing has said.


Speaking during a handing over of a two-roomed house built by Thamaga cluster policing volunteers he said the cluster policing movement was doing a commendable job by bringing dignity to the less fortunate.


Dr Seakgosing said police and volunteers should not only  be seen to be active when fighting crime, but have a responsible to assist in the advancement of social and economic being of the community they serve.


He said as a caring society, Batswana should always be ready to assist fellow human beings to live the national ideals as espoused in the national vision 2016 and the national framework of four Ds.


The minister said though there were many needy individuals in Thamaga, the donation was a start in the right direction and urged local businesses to partner and be part of Thamaga charitable efforts to assist community they do business with.


For his part Thamaga North councilor Mr Palelo Motaosane said the policing cluster volunteers hadproven that they were part and parcel of the community and share responsibility for the social advancement of the less fortunate.


He commended the volunteers and the community for assisting Mr Gaothobogwe Matladi and his family with a house which he said demonstrated that the spirit of self-reliance was still alive in Setswana custom.


Speaking on behalf of volunteers Mr Ramokgweleo Polao said the house was built through fundraising activities and pledges since 2011 and about P45 000 was used for the house. He urged the business community to assist towards the building of the toilet and stand pipe for the family. Ends
