BAC receives CIMA quality partner award

28 Jul 2014

The Botswana Accountancy College (BAC) has received accreditation from the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA).

The college has been awarded with the status of CIMA learning quality partner. Speaking at the award ceremony recently, BAC executive director, Mr Michael Lesolle, said the strategic partnership between BAC and CIMA had been built for two decades.

“Since the inception of the relationship in 1995/96, the college has invested significantly in ensuring both our brands are held in high regard,” he said.

Mr Lesolle said it is the award they have received from CIMA every year for the past decade and added that they chose to celebrate it this year to acknowledge the tenth anniversary of the awarding of such prestigious symbol of faith in them.

“It also represents part of other milestone achievements by the college,” he said.

Mr Lesolle stated that annually, BAC students were awarded prizes from CIMA global for outstanding examination performance worldwide.

Furthermore, some business leaders and key decision makers were CIMA members and also BAC alumni.

“We are delighted that our attainments are yet another piece of evidence that BAC contributes positively towards the development of our country,” he said.

He said accreditation came with an obligation to provide personal attention and ease of access to lecturers who would always go to the extra mile to assist students. The award recognised BAC as an approved learning partner, offering learners the best environment as they built the initial stepping stones towards their careers.

The Regional Director of CIMA, Ms Samantha Louis, said BAC was the only institution in Botswana to attain the status since 2006. She said CIMA assessed institutions with great scrutiny as they were credited through a comprehensive quality assurance process to be CIMA learning quality partners.

“We expect exceptional pass rates on a consistent basis, a highly qualified team of lecturers, provision of evidence of interactions with stakeholders and compliance with all CIMA quality standards,” she said. Ms Louis said BAC consistently met all criteria and standards set and required by their institution and that they highly commend them on the attainment. ENDS
