Serule police recorded more than 100 traffic offences along Gaborone-Francistown road during the President’s Day holidays.
The acting Station Commander for Serule Police Station, Assistant Superintendent Timothy Chaba, said 67 of the 100 cases were speeding offences.
Assistant Superintendent Chaba said over speeding is a serious concern and a major contributor to road accidents.
Mr Chaba said the number of traffic offences recorded showed that some drivers failed to obey traffic signs. There were 12 cases of unlicensed vehicles, two of drunken driving and six of unlawful overtaking.
Serule police are also investigating an accident in which a vehicle overturned after the driver lost control and sustained minor injuries on Saturday. Mr Chaba said the accidents that occurred along the Gaborone-Francistown road caused concern.
Meanwhile, Palapye police are investigating one burglary case in which a television set worth P7 200 was stolen and one house breaking incident in which goods amounting to P1 850 were stolen during the holidays. ENDS
