Forty-five beneficiaries of the poverty eradication programme who recently completed courses on dress-making and hair-dressing were told that any business needs patience, focus and commitment.
Awarding the certificates, the chairman of Molepolole sub-district, Councilor Godfrey Sibisibi encouraged the graduates to work hard to improve their lives through their businesses but this could only come about when they were committed and focused.
Mr Sibisibi said that the government had played its part, it was for them to pull up their socks to make a meaningful leaving.
He said the government had financed a lot of programmes of which he encouraged Batswana to utilise, noting that pity jealousies and laziness should be discouraged in businesses.
Mr Sibisibi said they could create employment for themselves and other Batswana if they applied themselves, and this in turn could reduce the burden from government.
He said there was no doubt that Batswana were multi-talented.
One of the graduates in dress-making, Ms Janet Sejanamane thanked government for the support in particular the department of Social Welfare and Community Development for training them.
For her part, Ms Lydia Matthys who completed the hairdressing course advised colleagues not to mix love affairs with businesses, saying they should always seek assistance from social workers.
She said family interferences in businesses should be avoided.
The forty-five beneficiaries were from Kgalagadi and Kweneng districts. The ceremony was characterised by ululations and songs as the graduates who stayed for six months were awarded certificates. ENDS
