Francistown-Orapa junction road marking on cards
22 Jul 2014
Parliament has learnt that the Department of Roads has planned the road marking of Francistown-Orapa junction road in the priority list of the next financial year projects.
Responding to a parliamentary question, the Minister of Transport and Communications, Mr Johnnie Swartz said the department was currently undertaking audit of missing, damaged and fading signs along the Francistown-Orapa road and the exercise is expected to be complete by end of August this year.
He also noted that the MTC did not provide shades at bus stops in its infrastructure while the ones which currently existed were normally donations or erected by the Village Development Committees.
Tonota North MP, Mr Fidelis Molao had wanted to know when road markings and signage on the Francistown-Orapa road from Borolong to Mokubilo villages would be improved to regulate traffic and also give directions to road users.
He had also asked whether MTC would erect shades at bus stops along the said road to be used by commuters as they awaited transport to and from Francistown and their villages, if so, which specific ones would be erected in the immediate future and if not why. ENDS
