Kgosi decry poor service delivery

Kgosi Moropa Tiro has decried what he termed deprivation of services by government departments at Lorolwane in the Southern District.
Speaking during donation of clothing and toiletry courtesy of the Japanese non-governmental organisations and United Arab Emirates Exchange recently, Kgosi Tiro said the gesture by the donors was worthwhile.
“We are so far removed from main centres and this noble gesture will particularly relief the underprivileged from devastating cold weather,” he said.
He thanked Botswana Family Welfare Association- Kanye Branch, who partnered with the donors for having identified Lorolwane residents as beneficiaries. On other issues, Kgosi Tiro said he is worried by waywardness that has gripped youth in Lorolwane.
Young people, he said, drink alcohol excessively, at times resulting in unprotected sex. The situation he said is exacerbated by idleness as many young people do not go to school or work. For her part, National AIDS Coordinating Agency, Ms Mokgadi Ngwenya urged parents, teachers and community leaders to join hands to mould responsible future generation.
She called on parents to walk the talk and live a responsible life so that young people can learn best attributes from a young age.
A senior community development officer, Ms Diteko Komanyane warned those engaging in sexual relationships with girls underage that they will be prosecuted.
Kanye Administrative Authority chairperson, Mr Patrick Ralotsia thanked the donors saying the gesture is a true testimony of solidarity and mutual relations Botswana has with international organisations.
The leadership of Botswana, he said is at the forefront of the campaign to give to the less privileged.
He called on Kgosi and the entire village leadership to instill discipline amongst the young people and give them direction. Mr Ralotsia said it was disheartening that young people are engaging in unbecoming acts saying the nation is at the brink of total moral decay due to the bad conduct. Botswana Family Welfare Association Chairperson for Kanye branch, Mr
Pontius Mokgosana appealed to government to support them financially to enable them to provide much needed sexual reproductive services to the communities. He said though they are willing to extend their services to far removed areas, lack of funding limits them.
A total of 347 among them Community Home Based Care patients, orphans, destitute and needy students benefited from the donation. ENDS
