MP praises Spiritual Healing

02 Jul 2014

Member of Parliament for Maun East, Mr Frank Ramsden has praised Spiritual Healing Church for playing a vital role to augment government efforts in providing shelter for the needy.

Speaking during the handover of  a two-roomed house valued at P129 000 built by Spiritual Healing Church for Ms Akanyanyang Xaga of Riverside ward, he said the church had demonstrated love, care and compassion to the 83-year-old woman.

Mr Ramsden said government came up with the Vision 2016 pillars to promote dignified lives amongst Batswana, adding that what the church had done was in line with the Vision 2016 pillar of a compassionate, just and caring nation.

“This is a positive step in the right direction and I urge other organisations to provide shelter to the needy people who do not have shelter,” he added. He said the church has followed the laws of the Bible which calls for all to love one another, adding that it has indeed heeded the call to transform the lives of the underprivileged members of the society.

Deputy council secretary, Mr Nigel Mangoye said government continues to recognise the role played by churches and hoped that a lot would be achieved through their involvement in driving and embracing vision 2016 pillars.

He said the house would restore dignity to the family as they now have a proper house to live in. He observed that building a house for Ms Xaga’s family meant that they have assisted government to eradicate poverty as well as restored dignity amongst the family members.

Mr Mangoye said the church has reduced destitution in the district, adding that government alone could not afford to provide shelter to all needy people.

Bishop Gotlaadirwang Motswasele said it is the aim of the church to ensure the needy society is taken on board as the Bible stated that people should provide to those in need and look after the needy society.

He said extending a helping hand is their priority noting that it is not the first time to assist. He said they have handed another house in Bobonong recently.

He also revealed that the church has also donated funds to Masiela Trust Fund and this year they took a big step to provide shelter.

Bishop Motswasele said the church is a non-profit organisation but they assist through spirit of volunteerism and love, adding that they raise funds through organisation of dinners and mokolokotwane. He thanked his followers for ensuring that the project became a success. Ends
