Earning a living through the lens

He discovered his passion for photography while a student at Selolwe Hill Junior Secondary School in Francistown.
Today, 26 year-old Katholo Adzina is the proud owner of Redemption Productions, a company that provides photography services. In a recent interview, Adzina explained that he stared taking pictures to make an income in 2003.
His journey to work on his love for photography brought him into contact with one Godfrey Julius, the owner of Professional Studio, who immediately fell in love with his work and introduced him to video shooting.
Adzina said in 2007 he worked on a fulltime basis for Julius where he learnt to edit videos using a computer software, at the same time studying to improve his video taking and editing skills.
Upon acquiring those skills, Adzina said he registered his own company in 2009 and was funded in 2010 by the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Culture through the Youth Development Fund (YDF).
Apart from photography, Adzina, who is popularly known as King Calypso around the country’s second city, said he is also working hard at establishing himself as an artiste of repute.
He stated that so far he has two recorded albums under his belt and is also a talented graphic designer, who creates album sleeves, posters and billboards.
Emily Tabengwa, a gospel artiste from Francistown commended Adzina for his services and observed that he produces quality work as shown by the high quality video of her newly released album titled A le Bakwe.
For his part, Julius explained that he started working with Adzina when he was a student at Selolwe Hill.
He said he introduced him to video shooting after realizing his immense potential, describing the young man as a talented photographer who was willing to learn every day.
With the advent of modern technology, Julius believes that his protégé has a bright future ahead of him in this field. ENDS
