Registration for inputs (seeds, fertilizer and herbicides) and draught power subsidy under the Integrated Support Programme for Arable Agriculture Development (ISPAAD) for 2014/2015 cropping season is ongoing.

The deadline is June 30, 2014, according to a press release from the Ministry of Agriculture. The press release stated that farmers who had not yet registered were urged to contact their agricultural demonstrators as no registration will be allowed beyond June 30, 2014

Those not registered, would not be assisted under ISPAAD for the coming cropping season, the release stated. Only farmers who row plant will benefit from ISPAAD subsidy in terms of hybrid seed, fertiliser and herbicides and draught power in case of subsistence farmers.

The release further stated that payments for draught power subsidy were expected to close on June 24, 2014. Therefore, farmers who had not signed and submitted their payment certificates were advised to do so before the closing date so that they could be assisted.

The ministry also urged farmers to continuously report their 2013/14 cropping season yields to their extension agents

According to the release, to date, 401 500Ha have been planted by 121,565 farmers. A total of P213 568 733.84 has been paid to 77 784 farmers for 218 104.78Ha in the form of draught power subsidy. ENDS
