Teachers have been urged to integrate technology in their work to avoid being left behind.
Motivational speaker, Mr Oneile Tlhakadu said this during the teachers’ day celebrations in Shakawe on June 6.
He told them that for one to change or improve the results, they needed to take part in the revolution of technology by always embracing diversity and unity. Mr Tlhakadu advised teachers that the most important ingredient of all in teaching was working with passion, saying by so doing it would make their jobs less stressful.
“If your jobs causes you distress then you are in trouble because teachers should do their job with passion or face being miserable for the whole life”, said Mr Tlhakadu.
The guest speaker, Mr Motlatsi Moalosi who is the branch manager for Standard Chartered Bank in Maun, reminded teachers that they were bound to always have challenges in life but should always strive to soldier on.
He encouraged teachers to never give up on children who grasped things slowly in class but rather be patient in moulding them. Mr Moalosi said teachers must learn to be competitive amongst each other as that would enhance their performance regionally and nationally.
“The first thing to have as a teacher in order to positively influence your students is self-discipline, reliability, honesty, being an exemplary and being able to take a stand on what you want in your classroom and what you do not want,” he said.
He also advised teachers to learn to critic each other positively so as to build than destroy. During the event teachers also unveiled a bus shelter project. The shelter was constructed through contributions from different clusters in the Okavango constituency who contributed P20.00 each .
The shelter was constructed by the Okavango Technical College. Ends
