Not all Tonota North schools have ICT equipment
21 Feb 2013
Parliament has been told that not all schools in Tonota North constituency have been supplied with information communication technology (ICT) equipment.
Assistant Minister of Education and Skills Development (MoESD), Mr Patrick Masimolole said there was a delay in the delivery of ICT equipment, particularly laptops, while the initial tender was rejected by the district administration tender committee and as a result, the project was being re-advertised.
He said Mphinyane, Nshakashogwe, Nyamambisi, Sebina, Tlhalogang, Borolong, Mpapane and Mathangwane primary schools had received printers, a multimedia projector, computers, cameras, TV sets, radios and DSTV decoders.
Mr Masimolole also informed Parliament that out of eight electrified primary schools in Tonota North, six have been supplied with photocopiers while the remaining schools being Tlhalogang and Mphinyane would be supplied with photocopiers by the end of February.
As for schools without electricity, namely Mabesekwa, Natale, Makobo, Jamataka, Matsitama, Mokubilo and Mmea, Mr Masimolole explained that the ministry had tendered for solar power driven photocopiers, which would be supplied by the end of May.
Tonota North MP, Mr Fidelis Molao had asked whether the minister was aware that not all the ICT equipment due to the Tonota North constituency had been delivered to date, and if so, what was cause of the delay.
He had also wanted to know which equipment had been delivered so far, and to which schools and which equipment was still to be delivered to which schools.
He also asked when the rest of the equipment will be delivered. ENDS
