State President refurbishes Block 5 park
27 May 2014
Ministry of State President staff, on May 23, took the community service day to Block Five recreational park in Gaborone where they cleaned and painted children’s playing equipment.
The ministry staff and management shifted their white collar jobs to blue gear in the name of charity, refurbishing the park so that it could bear an appealing outlook.
The acting Minister for Presidential Affairs and Public Administration, Mr Shaw Kgathi said the aim was to clean up the park to ensure that it served its intended purpose by providing a habitable playground for children.
Mr Kgathi said the clean-up campaign was a move that would go a long way in ensuring that the park would not turn into a scrap yard but a recreational park. The officers as well as the minister cut-off the trees, re-painted the see-saws, sliding equipment, swings, and uprooted the logs.
He urged government employees especially those from Ministry of State President to participate in community service day activities as they brought a positive change into people’s lives. ENDS
