First National Bank Botswana (FNBB) has donated a plasma television set to Letsholathebe II Memorial Hospital in Maun.
Speaking at the handing over ceremony and painting of the hospital’s paediatric ward recently, FNBB branch manager, Ms Kelebogile Disang said they were committed to giving back to the community.
“We are doing our level best to give and support the community with the little we have, and our main aim is to carry out a project every year that will give back to the community and improve their lives, as we are looking forth to achieve our Vision 2016 pillars as well as supporting our President,” she said.
Ms Disang said they saw it fit to give children admitted at the hospital colourful memories and refresh their minds. The branch manager noted that a child would always want to play and move around even if they were in pain.
She said giving them attractive toys would help them recover fast and not feel lonely. The television would play an educational role as some of the children are attending pre-schools and would accord them the opportunity to catch up, she added.
FNBB cooperate social responsibility manager based in Gaborone, Ms Keneilwe Moseki said they have 21 branches around te country and that every branch was given P50 000 every year to carry out charitable projects. Ms Moseki said the bank has opened its hands through the FNBB Foundation, and urged the community to make use of it.
She added that they can fund a group of people not less than 10 in establishing new businesses and also give schools sponsorships. Letsholathebe II Memorial Hospital superintendent, Dr Maxwell Mungisi thanked FNBB for their recognition of the unfortunate kids and for being health wise.
Dr Mungisi said the decoration of the paediatric ward would definitely have a positive psychologically healing impact on the kids and would also accelerate their recovery process. He said kids are very sensitive that when ignored, they would feel lonely and this would delay their recovery. ENDS
