Auto Base, a car dealing company based in Mogoditshane has donated 30 blankets to House of Peace Orphanage Shelter which were distributed to those children under the care of the shelter.
Speaking at the donation ceremony held in Mogoditshane recently, the Managing Director of Auto-Base, Mr Ahmed Sharfan said it is not good to see children suffering, adding that they needed to be supported.
He said he was dedicated to helping these children, “this does not end here, I promise that I will continue helping these children,” he said.
The director of House of Peace Orphanage Shelter, Mr Israel Gopolang said they want to see these children living a better and healthy life.
He said by 2016, they want them to be recognised in the society, instead of being called bobashi (street kids) as they are called by many people.
He said they want to do away with this derogatory name (bobashi) in the society. We are going to teach them ways of survival such as ploughing,” he said.
Furthermore, Mr Gopolang stated that they are even going to teach the children some technical skills such as engineering, solar harvesting and many more, and ensuring that they partake in some sports activities such as football.
He said they are going to explore and nurture the talents of these children.
For her part, the president of House of Peace Orphanage Shelter, Ms Esther Mokgadi said the passion for helping such children started years back. She said she has approached many organisations to help her with donations and fortunately, Auto Base heard her call. She further stated that they are not only supporting those based in
Gaborone, “We are now preparing to visit those in Ghanzi,” she added.
Ms Mokgadi further said the government has given them land at a location in Village to build a place for these children.
In the meantime, while still waiting for the place to be ready, Ms Mokgadi said they will be using her place in Mogoditshane.
House of Peace Orphanage shelter is a newly established non-governmental charity organisation that helps and supports street kids around the country. ENDS
