Ministry raises funds for community projects

20 May 2014

Permanent secretary in the Ministry of Labour and Home Affairs has urged government ministries and departments to heed President Lt Gen. Seretse Khama Ian Khama’s call by doing more for their communities.

Speaking at a traditional Setswana cuisine luncheon hosted by the ministry to raise funds for community projects, Mr Ikotlhaeng Bagopi said the ministry had the past undertaken projects to uplift communities.

He said government employees had been asked to lend a helping hand and give to the less fortunate, adding that the funds raised by the ministry would go for worthy causes.

“In the past, we built a house and handed it over in Letlhakane, a pit latrine in Semolale and another house in Matlobo amongst other projects we did,” he said.

He thanked different government departments, parastatals and private sector companies that graced the event and pledged money.

“The fact that you are supporting our efforts to do well should be commended and our ministry will forever remember that,” said Mr Bagopi. Ends
