Regional offices need to up game - Masisi

The acting Minister of Education, Skills and Development, Mr Mokgweetsi Masisi has implored regional education offices to improve workforce efficiency in their regions.
Mr Masisi said this when meeting with some of the staff in Ghanzi over the weekend (May17-18). He urged them to map way forward to improve performance.
He also implored them to work as a team, as well as to multi task in order to improve efficiency. Minister Masisi acknowledged challenges put to him by director of regional operations in Ghanzi, Mr Galesenngwe Mohube.
Mr Mohube said challenges such as shortage of transport, which he said was the main concern, absenteeism of students, poor results especially in settlement schools. He also said employees were not willing to work in Ghanzi District. However, Mr Mohube said they worked around the challenges and produce what they could.
Mr Mohube said his region had high value addition at Ghanzi Senior Secondary School. He said in the past years, the school had been doing well because of its high value addition, which he said was an achievement.
He noted that the school admitted students with poor results but in the end produced better results than when a student came in from junior school. On other issues, Minister Masisi also briefed the staff on efforts and changes made by government to improve the welfare of officers and help broaden their income.
He briefed them on the house and motor purchase which could now be payable in 20 years rather than 10 years as was. He also briefed them on the directive which allowed public officers to participate in private business upon given permission by the permanent secretary.
Mr Masisi also noted that government will be rolling out childhood program which is one of the ways to improve results in schools, from early education stages. Ends
