Motor Centre’s magnate, Mr Satar Dada has donated 6 000 blankets to be distributed to SOS children’s villages, Gaborone City Council, Botswana Red Cross and to many other organisations as well as destitute people countrywide.
Speaking at the donation ceremony held at Capital Motors in Gaborone on Thursday May 15, Mr Dada said the purpose of the donation was to keep the disadvantaged people comfortable and warm during the winter season.
He said they have been donating to the needy every winter season. Meanwhile, Mr Motshwari Kitso, a national director of SOS children’s villages expressed his appreciation that Mr Dada has answered their call.
He said they have over 2 000 children under their care adding that the blankets were not only for those based in Gaborone but other centres in the country.
He appealed to other organisations and stakeholders to help them; not only with blankets but with other winter clothing like jerseys. Capital Motors’ sales manager, Mr Michael Masunga said the donation was an annual service that done during winter.
Mr Masunga said that was an example to other organisations to take part in helping those people out there who were in need adding that they do try to reach many places in the country.
Ms Tinah Mpho Molatlhegi, Programmes Director of Botswana Red Cross Society said the gesture makes her to continue to work with Red Cross Society adding that they would give those blankets to people who have lost their houses.
Ms Molatlhegi said the kind of work done by Motor centre was a wonderful one and urged Batswana at large to take part too. Ends
