Satau elects Museke as headman of records
13 May 2014
Mr Bernard Museke has been nominated as a headman of records for Satau in Chobe District.
This came after the death of Mr Johannes Shamukuni in October last year. With a total of 170 votes, Mr Museke, who is currently the village development committee chairperson, beat the other four contestants who had also shown interest for the position.
The nominations took place recently in a packed Satau kgotla. The district commissioner for Chobe, Dr Temba Mmusi explained that the name had to be submitted first for approval at the ministry before Mr Museke could officially be recognised as a headman of records.
Mr Museke thanked residents of Satau for showing confidence on him and encouraged them to attend future kgotla meetings in large numbers. Contestants pledged to work cooperatively with the newly nominated headman and to submit under his leadership if the ministry would approve his name.
Five contestants had shown interest in the position namely Messrs Bernard Museke, Rungwe Simasiku, Jost Kabozu, Poniso Shamukuni and Ms Pauline Shamukuni. Ends
