Pay day changes please beneficiaries

12 May 2014

Ipelegeng beneficiaries in Sebina have expressed gratitude at the change of dates for their payments.

In the past, they were paid at the same time with the elderly.

This, as a result, created a huge mix up during the pay day as they would crowd at the BotswanaPost office.

Speaking at a kgotla meeting in Sebina recently, one of the Ipelegeng workers, Ms Thobane Mosutha said the situation was really bad.

“We usually had to wait in long queues for hours and sometimes the whole day before getting our payments,” she said.

She said they were happy that they were no longer paid using cheques but cash, adding that in that way they no longer have to go queue again at the banks again for the withdrawal of money.

Another beneficiary, Ms Senzeni Johnson said she was happy with the recent increment of the allowance although they were yet to receive it.

Ms Malebogo Boshomoko, also a beneficiary raised her concern about the food they get during working hours.

She said though it is appreciated it is not enough given that the work they endure consumes a lot of energy.

Addressing the beneficiaries, Tutume Assistant Council Secretary Ms Kene Molelwane said they will categorise Ipelegeng and pensioners accordingly so that they get paid as individual groups at different times. Ends
