Another medical centre called Medplus opened its doors to the public in the Central Business District (CBD) on May 10.

The centre situated at the ITowers is the brainchild of a couple in their late 30s Mr Seabelo Maje and Mrs Gaositwe Maje from Modipane in the Kgatleng District.

Mr Maje is an optometrist at the clinic whilst his wife works for National Development Bank (NDB) as finance manager. Speaking at the launch of the centre, Associated Fund Administrators (AFA) marketing manager, Mr Scelo Hlope decried lack of customer care in the health profession.

“The real gap in the health care industry is customer care,” he added. He explained that there is still lack of respect for patients by health care providers in general and that this has tarnished the good name of the industry.

He therefore appealed to all health care providers to handle themselves in a professional manner and desist from charging people exorbitant bills in the exchange of money for their services.

In this regard, Mr Hlope said AFA has made an initiative in addressing this problem through the introduction of electronic services.

He said the move towards an electronic platform will address many problems that are bedevilling the industry by adjusting the politics that include unfair balancing of bills.

He therefore called on health care providers to respect the people’s money when rendering health care services to them.

The medical centre provides services such as pain management, sports injuries, back pain syndrome, muscle tears, arthritis, rheumatism, neurological impairments rehabilitation, medical and surgical rehabilitation, personal exercise programmes, and urinary inconsistence amongst others.

Giving a vote of thanks, vice board chairperson, Mr Uyapo Mooketse appealed to other young Batswana to follow on the footsteps of the Maje family by venturing into similar businesses.

The centre comprises of a physiological clinic, dental clinic and a specialised dermatologist amongst others. Ends
