DC office rescues Ratshere victims

The social and community development (S&CD) office has availed a tent as temporary shelter plus 20 blankets to the four remaining victims of the May 4 gruesome murder, Kweneng deputy district commissioner, Ms Ikgopoleng Lekoape has confirmed.
Aobakwe Lehupu, who is under police custody, killed four of his relatives and burned a house at Ratshere lands near Lesilakgokong in Kweneng District on Sunday.
Mrs Lekoape said, though they were yet to provide food and clothing, they decided that since the family had lost everything during the tragedy, they would provide two coffins through the S&CD office.
“One relative has offered to help with another coffin whilst the other victim had an insurance policy which will cover burial costs,” Mrs Lekoape said.
She said the district commissioners’ (DC) office was treating the incident as disaster and was availing every help it could to assist the bereaved family to lead a near normal life like before.
Mrs Lekoape also expressed shock at the increasing number of murder cases in Kweneng, which were mostly committed by young people. This situation, she said, needed to be addressed urgently.
Molepolole police station commander Tawana Tawana said the suspect appeared before court on May 5 and they were still awaiting postmortem results. Ends
