Member of Parliament for Ngwaketse west Mr Mephato Reatile has urged the Jwaneng community to participate in government activities and gain full knowledge of the services and products offered by different departments under the ministry of local government and rural development.

Speaking at the Jwaneng district pitso recently, Mr Reatile said this will improved service delivery as the community will know what to expect from their different departments.

He urged government departments to also make sure that the products and services they offer are clear and understandable to the targeted community.

“By doing so, the community of Jwaneng and the various government departments will be able to raise much needed resources and improve customer service,” he said.

Mr Reatile said interaction between service providers and customers was critical and therefore encouraged government departments to share ideas and interact with the community on forums like pitso, social media and kgotla meetings.

He said through interaction customers will know their right to excellent service delivery and avoid being exploited because of lack of knowledge.

For his part, Jwaneng town clerk Mr Dick Kalantle said the theme of the pitso Promoting Community Participation Towards an Open, Democratic and Accountable Nation has to be repeated because community involvement in the small mining town is still low.

He also encouraged the community to support government departments by attending such gatherings. ENDS
