The Palapye branch of Standard Chartered Bank Botswana recently donated P1 000 and second hand clothing to House of Hope Trust.
The trust is a non-governmental organisation that was founded by the African Comprehensive HIV/AIDS Partnerships (ACHAP) in 2001. It operates a day care centre with 97 pre-school children, 57 of which weree from vulnerable families.
Speaking during the handing over ceremony at House of Hope recently, Standard Charted Bank Customer Service Officer Ms Moitshepi Nkutlwisang said the bank aims to contribute positively to the community in which it operates.
She added that employees of the bank donated their personal funds, and many of them have promised to avail their personal time to volunteer at the center, caring for the children and cleaning.
The school head of House of Hope Ms Alice Keitemoge said partnership and the spirit of volunteerism are needed for the center to keep operating. She appealed to the public and different organizations to visit the center and pick a child that they will sponsor by paying their school fees and buying them school uniform.
“These children are not only the responsibility of the House of Hope but of society at large,” she said. ENDS
