28 Apr 2014

As part of its socio economic investment, Lewis stores donated P12 400 to Seaseole Primary School in Letlhakane on April 24.

Handing over the donation, Lewis regional controller Botswana north, Mr Edson Lungisani said the company contributed significantly to the upliftment of the community livelihoods focusing on areas where there was need.

Mr Lungisani said as such, Lewis had seen it fit to donate to the school to help address some of the challenges likely to hinder smooth operations of the learning centre. He said education was a strong pillar holding the nation together and even paving a way for a better future.

Mr Lungisani said the funds would go a long way in addressing challenges faced by the needy students so that they can be at par with their colleagues from well off families and as such enjoy the school environment.

He said through the donation, the company was indirectly saying thank you to its loyal customers. “By giving to the students we are indirectly giving back to our customers. The little that we have donated will turn into a positive development,” he said.

The regional controller said the company was doing so at a time when the market for their goods and services was saturated with strong competitors calling for a strong marketing strategy coupled with good customer service.

“Besides the challenges we are doing all in our power to offer affordable prices, offer quality goods, take care of our customers and even where possible give back to the community,” he said.

Meanwhile the School Head, Mrs Esther Boiditswe has acknowledged the donation as a blessing adding that the school had resolved to seek for assistance to help some of the needy students at the school not catered for by government safety nets.

Mrs Boiditswe said some students from needy families cannot cope well with their studies as they do not have proper school uniform and therefore sounds as if they are neglected and singled out from other pupils because their parents cannot adequately provide for them.

We want our students to be uniform in terms of the school attire adding the donation will go a long way in covering some of the challenges faced by students from less privileged families. ENDS
