TASC register second win
18 Feb 2013
TASC FC collected maximum points again on Sunday when they trounced inconsistent Tonota FC 2-1 in a game played at Rutwang Junior Secondary School grounds in Tonota.
It is the ‘Tango boys’ second win in a row while Tonota have lost two games in one weekend and conceded five goals.
The game started on a high note as both teams tried to get an early goal with many of their chances going begging because of poor finishing. The scorching afternoon sun must also have contributed to the players’ lethargy.
Notwithstanding the hot temperature, TASC started showing more composure and experience in the middle of the field with Ronald Mangwa dictating play.
Both teams increased their tempo and pace in the second half as the temperature also dropped. TASC continued to mount pressure on the home side. Nelson ‘Viola’ Gabolwelwe and Ramontsho Ramontsho were a thorn in the flesh for the home team.
The ‘Tango boys’ mounted attack after attack but Tonota’s Thabo Race was equal to the task with brilliant saves.
Gabolwelwe, who is a former Zebras and BDF IX winger, dribbled past Tonota FC defenders and sent a curling shot at the far post to beat the goalkeeper and give the ‘Tango boys’ the lead.
The youthful Tonota side lost composure soon thereafter and started to unleash dangerous tackles. Their captain, Emmanuel Mogorosi was the first to be given a yellow card.
The enterprising Mangwa scored the second goal for the visitors from a corner kick in the 81st minute. Just as the the ‘Tango boys’ thought they had room to breathe Tonota FC’s Thato Motswagole pulled one goal back with a beautiful shot from outside the box.
In search of an equaliser, Tonota FC substituted Dikabelo Lesolame for Emmanuel Gobonwang.
‘Sepondo,’ as Tonota FC is affectionately known, had at least 20 corner kicks during the duration of the game but failed to utilise them. TASC nearly scored a third goal in the dying minutes of the game after Wame Kedikanetswe’s drive was parried by Race.
In an interview, TASC coach, Boinyana Galeboe said he was not impressed by his side’s performance, but was happy with an away victory, He decried lack of creativity and composure from his players, but he was happy with the disciplined attitude of his defence.
‘‘We missed a lot of chances, but I blame the bumpy ground. Also my players are not used to the speedball, that is why we lost most of the balls and the ball cost us a healthy win,’’ said Galeboe. Tonota FC head coach, Matthews Mogocha applauded his boys for their impressive play although they lost two consecutive games
He said one of his best players was nursing an injury and that was why his team could not play well because they were trying new combinations.
‘‘I am very proud of my youngsters because most of the players here are between the ages of 21 and 23 at least they are showing maturity and determination with every game we are playing. We are travelling away to Maun next weekend and we are hoping for a better performance,’’ said Mogocha. ENDS
