Kgosidiile advocates for entrepreneurship

Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) Chief Executive Officer, Mr Cross Kgosidiile has implored Botswana Accountancy College (BAC) graduates to be advocates of entrepreneurship.
Speaking at the college’s graduation in Gaborone recently, he said graduates should make use of the lessons learnt at BAC as they laid the foundation for a successful entry into the workforce.
He said they should transform themselves into future leaders by adopting entrepreneurship, innovation, ethics and social responsibility as these were the skills relevant in today’s markets.
Mr Kgosidiile said entrepreneurship entails the ability to conceptualise idea, strategise on its implementation, mobilise resources and ensure its execution.
“It requires one to be passionate and determined to achieve his or her vision,” he said.
He further said the ability to think critically, communicate clearly and solve problems was regarded more important than the qualification one possesses, hence he said employers looked for such attributes when employing.
“These attributes enable the creation of transitional strategies to match the ever changing needs of today’s markets,” he said
Mr Kgosidiile implored graduates to be on the lookout of all the challenges around them and convert them into business ideas that could be exploited as the world today requires great thinkers with high propensity for innovation.
He also challenged graduates to reflect on their values as they are about to join corporate world adding that workplace ethics are critical and integral in fostering increased customer satisfaction, productivity and teamwork.
Mr Kgosidiile said professionals should have moral obligations to work for the betterment of the society they live in and serve. He said social responsibility is considered by the development agencies such as the World Bank to be essential “social glue” that strengthens the resilience of a community during times of major social and economic challenges.
Meanwhile, in recognising the abilities of graduates’ Debswana, LEA, Deloitte, Standard Chartered Bank, thrilled graduates with a cash prize of P3000.00. Sekgabo Kolare’s award was sponsored by KPMG for being the best outstanding students in Business taxation.
Delloitte awarded Tshephang Lutunda for her outstanding performance in financial reporting theory.
Mosimanegape Maake’s award was sponsored by Debswana for being the best in reports of financial strategy. Debswana also recognised the outstanding performance of Refilwe Kerekang in Enterprise strategy and Neo Mosimane emerged as the best student on analysing strategic issues in Global business.
Percy Makwapa received joint award from the courtesy of LEA and Standard Chartered Bank for his outstanding performance regarding Business enterprise international entrepreneurship. The Executive Directors award went to Gorata Montwedi and Edward Johnson.
Tshephang Lutunda and Percy Makawapa walked away with University of Derby Dean award. BAC graduation was hosted in collaboration with University of Derby. Ends
