Officers donate to Mokoswana school
14 Apr 2014
The Department of Prisons and Rehabilitation graduates of Class 1 of 2013 has donated winter clothes, school bags, shoes and socks to the less fortunate students of Mokoswana Primary School.
Acting commandant, Assistant Commissioner Ofentse Leshomo said prisons officers had been involved in charitable work with every class since 2004 based on the 2016 pillar of being a compassionate, just and caring nation.
Thus, Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Ms Botlogile Tshireletso commended the officers for fulfilling the Vision 2016 pillar adding that a blessed hand was the one that gives.
“It is highly commendable to see other government institutions heeding government’s plea to assist the less privileged by giving in whatever form.” Ms Tshireletso said the donations would uplift the beneficiaries’ self-esteem.
She said the students that were given the clothes would not look any different from other students adding that they should consider themselves lucky to be nominated amongst the many students in Mahalapye Sub-district.
Also, she urged parents of the beneficiaries to take good care of the valuable donations so they remain in good condition. “I would like to applaud the management and trainees of Prisons Staff College for the good gesture shown.”
Ms Tshireletso also urged the less fortunate members of Mokoswana to utilise government schemes and programmes aimed at assisting the needy and eradicating poverty to uplift their lives. She encouraged them to approach social workers for assistance. ENDS
