BotswanaPost upgrades payment system
10 Apr 2014
BotswanaPost has embarked on a system upgrade project that will simplify and modernise the payment process by the department of social protection.
Services that will be improved include payments of Old Age Pensions, the destitute persons allowance and World War II Veterans.
The new system dubbed PosoCard would enable existing beneficiaries to migrate from the old system into the new one. The migration process of registering the existing beneficiaries was scheduled to start on April 23 ending May 30. However normal registration for new beneficiaries would continue.
Beneficiaries will be issued with the PosoCard into which their monthly social service will be loaded into and they will use the cards to swipe and provide their finger print in order to withdraw their benefits. It will also help them to save.
BotswanaPost will next week embark on countrywide Kgotla meetings to consult and educate the beneficiaries prior to launching the card. ENDS
