Cashbuild gives P96 000 to schools

Serowe Cashbuild has donated P96 000 to eight primary schools in the Serowe Sub-council.
The eight schools participated in Cashbuild art competitions. Each school received P12 000 to be used for purchase of building materials.
Speaking during the hand over of the donation, chief education officer in the central region, Ms Dolly Monageng hailed Serowe Cashbuild store saying that they did “not only build houses, but also build the future leaders of this country”
Ms Monageng stated that by helping the primary schools, they were enhancing the vision of the Ministry of Education and Skills Development. She noted that in 2011-2012, her ministry came up with an initiative that encouraged community and businesses to partner with the ministry to improve education.
She said the donation should be a challenge to all education stakeholders that the donation brought positive impact to academic performance. She challenged Cashbuild to adopt any of the 31 schools in Serowe region.
For his part, Cashbuild operations director ,Mr Shane Thoresson said every five years they refurbished or upgraded their stores and each time they refurbished their stores, they donated to some members of the community as part of their social responsibility.
This time around they donated to the eight schools that participated in their art competition. The products of the art competition would be displayed in the store television sets for the next five years. As part of empowering the local community, they recruited people from the community and so far had 13.
Pako Selelo from Adelaide Primary Cchool scooped the award for best drawing. ENDS
